The Outlaw Riders were established late in 2010 and since then we have been working hard to be both seen and heard for all the right reasons… and some of the wrong ones! We are a team of 10 riders based in and around the south west, who love to ride and race downhill. We're all in it for the laughs and atmosphere and don't take ourselves too seriously. Our riders span across most race categories including juvenile, youth, senior and veteran and we are far from a conventional team in that we are incredibly passionate about all aspects of the sport; not just the racing. From dig days, track and jump building, to heckling and inducing an electric atmosphere at races; we are well known in our local area for getting involved because Outlaws do it all!
Dig Days
We enjoy getting involved in dig days as building the foundations of the sport in our local area is really important to us. We attended various dig days throughout 2011 in order to help maintain our local trails as well as those further afield and we have several more planned in the year to come. We are all looking forward to the opening of ‘Track 4’ at Gawton in 2012.
Achievements

In addition to racing the local events, some of the team members have participated in a variety of other events too.
Matt H, 1st in Junior category at the No Fuss Hope Endurance Race Fort William, Scotland; 3rd in Junior category at the Urban DH Charity Race, Plymouth University, Devon.
Chris H, 8th in Senior category at the UDHC Race, Plymouth University, Devon; 41st overall at the No Fuss Hope Endurance Race Fort William, Scotland; 23rd overall at the Red Bull Downforce Race, Swansea.
Matt B 1st in Juvenile category at the South West Championships, Gawton, Devon; 1st in Juvenile category at Woodland Riders Club Championships, Chipshop, Devon.
Marcus 2nd in Veteran category at Woodland Riders Club Championships,. Chipshop, Devon.
TOM was awarded the Woodland Riders ‘Bunny Hop Champion’ title for the 2nd consecutive year, jumping just shy of 40inches.
Weapons Days
Derived from the frequently used heckle ‘...pedal you weapon...’, the word ‘weapon’ is frequently used in our local area to describe riders who are ‘loose’ and ‘out of control’. By definition, Weapons Days are simply an opportunity for friends and associates of the Outlaw Riders to do some digging, some riding, show off their skills and generally have a laugh. These days have proved to be particularly popular as there is no pressure on riders to do anything other than enjoy themselves. Given the success of these events we will definitely be planning some more for 2012.
Plans for 2012
The Outlaw Riders have lots of plans for 2012, the most challenging of which is training the girls. Having shown such immense dedication and support for us all in the sport we love, the ladies have decided it’s time for them to give it a go too. So, in return for their continued support, 2012 will be the year that we dedicate some time to training them to ride too. The most exciting plan for 2012 is the Outlaw Riders vacation to Borovets, Bulgaria. The Outlaw Riders will be joined by an additional 8 riders in an extensive stag party/riding holiday. Celebrating in the only way we know how, it is set the be the most exhilarating event on the Outlaw calendar this year. Other plans for the coming year include filming the OUTLAW RIDERS first team movie, the local winter series races, numerous dig days and some more of our infamous ‘Weapons Days’.
A full face helmet must be worn at all times whilst competing in any of our races or timed sessions.
